EWU task force will look at stadium renovation project
CHENEY, Wash. —
The Eastern Washington University Board of Trustees announced the creation of a task force on Friday that will address the components of a football stadium renovation.
Composed of eight people, from the Board of Trustees and the EWU Foundation, the task force will work with EWU Athletics and the vice president for Advancement to reflect on past and future fundraising efforts. Members will look at a timeline for enhancing athletic facilities, while also addressing fiscally responsible ways to proceed.
“The EWU Board of Trustees supports intercollegiate athletics and understands the importance of athletic facilities for the health, welfare, and success of EWU student athletes,” said EWU Board Chair Uriel Iñiguez. “At the same time, the Board understands it has the fiduciary responsibility, and is required by state law, to oversee all operations of the university in a fiscally responsible fashion.
The task force has between now and Sept. 15 to work on a report, at which point it will present to the Board of Trustees.
