EWU ready for showdown with Vandals

CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington travels to Moscow to take on No. 15 Idaho on Saturday.

The Eagles have won the previous two matchups against the Vandals including five of the last seven meetings.

But EWU hasn’t faired well at the Kibbie Dome.

The Eagles are 4-10 against Idaho in Moscow.

“Any time you play on the road is hard,” EWU head coach Aaron Best says. “When you play a very good team on the road it’s even harder. But I think our kids will be up for it. Hopefully they have a good crowd. They’ve done a good job of fan engagement. They’ve had some good, home-healthy crowds thus far. Hopefully our fans travel well.”

EWU offensive lineman Seth Carnahan says playing in the dome presents unique challenges.

“This whole week of practice is going to be cold here, but then in the Kibbie Dome it’s always sunny and 70,” Carnahan said. “If you don’t hydrate throughout the week it’ll be a shock when it’s 70 degrees in November.”

Kickoff is set for noon on Saturday from the Kibbie Dome.
