ESPN: Gonzaga in talks to join Big 12 conference

SPOKANE, Wash. — ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that Gonzaga is in talks to join the Big 12 conference.

Thamel reports that Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark met with Gonzaga Athletic Director Chris Standiford in Frisco, Texas, to talk about a potential move.

Rumors have been floating around the Zags for months about a potential move out of the West Coast Conference, with conferences like the Pac-12, Big East and now the Big 12 as some of the conferences mentioned.

Teams in the Big 12 include Baylor, Texas and Kansas. Baylor and Kansas won the last two NCAA titles. The Zags played Kansas in 2020 in Florida and are scheduled to play Texas and Baylor this season.
