Elite Eight: No. 11 Loyola faces No. 9 Kansas State

Loyola will try to become the fifth No. 11 seed to make the Final Four when they face No. 9 Kansas State on Saturday night in an Elite Eight game.

The Loyola Ramblers needed overtime to beat No. 7 Nevada 69-68 on Thursday, while the K-State Wildcats upset No. 5 Kentucky 61-58.

The Ramblers (31-5) have been the NCAA men’s basketball tournament’s Cinderella story. They’ve won 13-straight games, which includes winning the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

In the NCAA tournament, Loyola knocked off No. 6 Miami 64-62, No. 3 Tennessee 63-62 on March 17 and Nevada.

The Wildcats (25-11) finished fourth in the Big 12 (10-8) and enter the game with NCAA tournament wins over No. 8 Creighton 69-59 on March 16, No. 16 University of Maryland Baltimore County 50-43 on March 18 and Kentucky.
