East Valley School District warns parents about suspicious man who approached fifth grader
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A fifth grade student in the East Valley School District said she was approached by a strange man while walking home from school, the district confirmed.
The incident reportedly happened on January 22 at N. Powell Road and E. Queen Ave, near the Continuous Curriculum School. According to a notice that went out to parents, the man approached the girl as she was getting off the bus.
The girl said the man was standing by his truck and called her over, saying “I have a question. Come here.” The young student told him she cannot talk to strangers.
The man tried again to convince her and she hurried home, according to the notice.
The man is described as being in his late 40s, early 50s. He is about 5’09” to 5’10” tall, with a heavier build, a mustache, and has what the girl described as a brown/ red/ strawberry blonde close-cut mohawk.
She told the sheriff’s office he was wearing a white tank top and blue basketball-style shorts at the time.
