East Valley School District teachers ratify new contract
SPOKANE, Wash. — Teachers in the East Valley School District have ratified a new contract for the 2018-2019 school year, according to superintendent Kelly Shea.
Shea told KXLY he couldn’t speak to the specifics of the contract, including details on pay raises. Shea said the East Valley Education Association and the district came to a tentative agreement Aug. 20 and teachers voted to approve the agreement Monday morning.
The decision to ratify a new contract follows the state Supreme Court’s McCleary ruling, which put more money in the hands of local districts to fully fund basic education.
KXLY has reached out to the East Valley Education Association for more details on the contract.
This is a developing story. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.
