Driver was on phone during time of collision in Chattaroy
CHATTAROY, Wash. — Police have cleared the scene of a two-car collision at Newport Highway and East Westmoreland Road.
The highway was closed for about two hours while crews worked to free three people from the vehicles.
The three only sustained non life-threatening injuries.
Washington State Patrol says the driver of a red SUV involved in the crash admitted to texting and driving at the time of the crash. That vehicle ran head-on with a blue pickup truck.
Authorities remind everyone to put away their cell phones while behind the wheel.
