‘Don’t give up’: SPS staff deliver notes of encouragement, calming tools to help kids cope in stressful times

School Help

SPOKANE, Wash. — In each classroom at Logan Elementary, students are able to utilize a “Regulation Station” when they’re feeling anxious or frustrated. It’s essentially a toolbox filled with calming techniques to help kids find ways to cope.

But with schools closed, many students are without these helpful tools, left to navigate stressful times at home on their own.

That’s why school staff helped deliver personal Regulation Stations to several students during meal distribution.

An attached note addressed to each Logan Lion reads, “[The tools] will help you practice the skills you learned at Logan to regulate and calm your brain and body. We know managing big emotions is hard, but you can do it. Don’t give up!”
