Detectives Investigating Stevens County Homicide
Stevens County detectives are investigating a murder after medical personnel found a man with multiple gunshot wounds Monday afternoon.
Gordon Feist, 63, was driving a UTV on Smart Way about four miles from Colville Sunday evening. At about 11:20 p.m. authorities received a call about a traffic accident on Smart Way and during the investigation discovered that Feist had crashed into a utility poll.
They also found that he had been shot twice.
“Through further investigation found out that he had just suffered a couple gun-shot wounds as well,” Stevens County Sheriff Kendle Allen said.
Feist was airlifted by MedStar to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he later died on Monday. The question as to why he was shot has gone unanswered so far.
“We have no suspects at this time and the vehicle will be gone over by the crime lab probably tomorrow,” Sheriff Allen said.
Sheriff Allen thinks Feist was shot while driving his small utility vehicle and speculates the shooter used a small caliber hand gun. He says Feist was well like by his neighbors and doesn’t believe anyone had a reason to specifically target him.
“Somebody may have been there with some ill intent at his place, we just don’t know that at this time,” Allen said.
Officials say they don’t believe the shooter posses a risk to the community but are asking residents to stay vigilant and call 9-1-1 to report any suspicious behavior…
