Despite snow, Spokane Public Schools are open and on time Thursday

Sorry, Spokane students! Spokane Public Schools will be open and on time on Thursday.

Despite the snow, the district posted to Facebook saying there will be no impact to class schedules or bus routes.

Several factors go into the district’s decision. At 3:00 a.m., bus drivers head out on school routes to assess road conditions and report back to district officials. Maintenance staff also look at conditions around school buildings, sidewalks and parking lots.

At 5:00 a.m., the Superintendent and Community Relations Director are briefed on the situation and make a final decision on the district’s schedule for the day.

Additionally, there are 52 schools in the district spanning many miles and conditions often vary by location.
