Deputies take domestic violence suspect into custody in West Plains
SPOKANE CO., Wash. — Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies and SWAT Team took a man into custody at a home near W. Westbow Blvd and S. Aspen Rd. at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies arrived at the home after receiving a call from a woman who claimed Tony L. Christmann, 55, had assaulted and strangled her the night before.
Christmann refused to leave the home, telling deputies to come back with a warrant. While deputies began the process of obtaining a warrant, SWAT Team members, as well as Hostange Negotiation, arrived to assist. According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, they had been informed that Christmann was possibly armed or had access to weapons inside the house.
SIRT Team members also responded to assist with traffic, as a portion of Westbow Blvd. was closed for a while during the standoff.
It was after 1 p.m. when Christmann exited the house and was safely taken into custody, after being told that a search warrant had been obtained.
