Deputies and K9s catch stolen car suspects

Grant County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested two suspects who stole a car and led deputies on a pursuit across eastern and central Grant County early Monday morning.

A deputy started following a stolen vehicle around 12:20 a.m. Monday near Road U-Southeast and Road 3-Southeast. Another deputy joined the chase, which reached speeds of 80 miles per hour and traveled west through the central part of the county.

Deputy Dave De La Rosa and K9 Grizzly joined the pursuit near Dodson Road and Road 10-Southwest. Both suspects got out of the car and ran on a gravel canal road near the 10100 block of Dodson Road Southwest.

Deputy Rosa and Grizzly caught the driver, 23-year-old Casandra J. Ochoa, and took her into custody.

The passenger, later identified as 24-year-old Bulmaro Hernandez, was found hiding in a nearby shed by K9 Chicka and handler Corporal Ric Char. Hernandez was also taken into custody.

Ochoa is lodged in the Grant County Jail for investigation of felony eluding and possession of a stolen vehicle. Hernandez is jailed for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle and an outstanding felony warrant.
