DeLeon’s Foods Sending Care Packages To Troops In Afghanistan
Cinco De Mayo is a little less than a month away but a local grocery store is already getting ready for the big day.
DeLeon’s Foods at 102 E. Francis in Spokane is sending Tortillas and other Mexican products to service members in Afghanistan.
“We get requests all the time from family members asking how they can send our tortillas to their loved ones overseas. A good friend of mine is stationed at Forward Operating Base Shank in Afghanistan and asked me to send him some things for his company and Cinco De Mayo is the perfect time to send it,” Sergio DeLeon said.
DeLeon packed three boxes full of his signature Sergio’s Tortillas, spice rubs and Mexican candy.
“They’re the ones fighting on the front lines for our freedom, right now it’s getting closer to Cinco De Mayo and sometimes we’re a little selfish and we forget about the men and women fighting overseas,” DeLeon said.
DeLeon says he will continue to send service men and women food in the coming months.
“This is something we’ll continue and if people come in and buy something for service members we’ll be glad to send it for them,” he said.
