Deer Park Team Gives Back By Playing The Game

SPOKANE — Thousands upon thousands of basketball players will descend on Spokane for Hoopfest 2008. Each of them with their own special story.

Hannah Holm and her team decided to give back to the community. With the help of Holm’s mom and dad, for every point the team makes, they’ll donate a dollar to the second harvest food bank. The Deer Park Family Clinic got in on a piece of the action, they plan to donate $5 per point to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Center.

All of this is being done because of a few young ladies who have such big hearts.

“I think that what Hannah and her parents are doing is incredible, I think anyone who has extra money should just give it back,” said Cheyenne Person, a teammate of Hannah’s.

Hannah just has one motivation, to give back to the community that raised her.

“Giving extra money that we have to special causes, I think it’s good for the community,” said Hannah. “It makes you feel good.”

Although they are only in the eighth grade, Hannah and her team are helping out the community while playing the game they love.
