Crews continue work on new Kramer Pkwy under-crossing in Liberty Lake

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Drivers going through Spokane Valley and Liberty Lake can expect some closures Tuesday night through Friday morning on I-90.

The Washington Department of Transportation says crews will be setting girders for the Kramer Parkway under-crossing over I-90.

During this work, expect to take the N Barker Rd and N Harvard Rd on-ramps to go eastbound on I-90 as the Greenacres on-ramp will be closed near E Country Vista Dr.

There will also be lane closures on I-90, only in the overnight hours, starting Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.

During these closures, there will be rolling slowdowns for driver safety — causing 20 to 30 minute delays on I-90 in both directions.

The slowdowns on I-90 westbound will start near Stateline and slowdowns on I-90 eastbound will start near the Pines Rd on-ramp.

Since summer of 2020, crews have been putting in work leading up to the construction of the new Kramer Parkway under-crossing.

The I-90 Barker to Harvard improvements project included constructing Barker interchange roundabouts in 2020 and widening the Harvard Road bridge in 2021.

Work on the under-crossing started in October last year and should be finished later this year.

It will connect over I-90 from Mission Ave. on the north to Country Vista Dr. to the south.

WSDOT says continued growth in Spokane Valley and Liberty Lake had put increased stress on the Barker Rd and Harvard Rd interchanges.

This new connection called the Kramer Parkway under-crossing will be the final step to address these issues.
