Couple celebrates engagement by flying cross-country to volunteer at Hoopfest
SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane native proposed to his girlfriend earlier this week and their first activity as an engaged couple was to fly across the country to volunteer at Hoopfest.
Brent Reser loves volunteering at Hoopfest and this will be his seventh year as a court monitor. He lives in South Carolina now and wanted his fiance Sidney, who he proposed to on Tuesday, to see what Hoopfest is all about.
Brent says he loves being a court monitor because he can build relationships with the people who play on the court and it’s a rewarding experience. Sidney says Brent raves about Hoopfest so much, she knew they had to make the trip to experience it for herself.
“I came back just because this event is so incredible, I only get to come to Spokane maybe two times a year, and I’m going to make sure one of those times is Hoopfest because you have a lot of fun and make memories,” Brent said.
While Brent is working as a court monitor Sidney will be a scorekeeper this weekend, excited to see for herself why Brent loves Hoopfest so much.
Fun Fact about Brent and Sidney: They both love the weather in Spokane right now, because South Carolina is so humid.
It might be safe to say they might be the only ones who feel comfortable out there.
