County to close Liberty Lake ORV Park amid high fire danger
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Spokane County has decided to close the Liberty Lake ORV park to all motorized vehicles until further notice, beginning on August 1.
The Director of Spokane County Parks and Recreation said the decision was made “as a heightened fire precaution” due to intense fire seasons in recent years and the “persistent drought on the east side of the cascades.”
Doug Chase said Monday that the temporary closure was necessary because of the dry conditions and the abundance of vegetation near the trails in the ORV Park. Chase also noted county burn restrictions being in effect.
The county will announce when the order is lifted.
