Country singer Phil Vassar to replace Josh Turner at Central WA State Fair after bus crash

YAKIMA, Wash. — Country singer Phil Vassar will be performing at the Central Washington State Fair in Yakima Friday night after Josh Turner’s show was abruptly canceled by a fatal bus crash.

Vassar is known for his late ’90s and early 2000s hits like “Just Another Day in Paradise” and “Carlene.”

The concert is free with fair admission. A limited amount of reserved seating is available for purchase. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, fair officials announced that Turner’s performance was canceled after a bus carrying members of the musician’s road crew crashed in California Wednesday night, leaving one crew member dead and several others injured.

Turner and his band were not on the bus.

All Josh Turner tickets will be honored for Vassar’s show. Refunds must be done before 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20. They can be obtained through the fair’s box office. If you have any questions, contact box office manager Misty Craft at 608-577-7540 or email her at mistyc@fairfun.com.
