Council approves name for U-District bridge
SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane City Council members unanimously voted to name the University District bridge the “University District Gateway Bridge,” on Monday evening.
The City opened the naming process to the public in January, 425 ideas were submitted, or which 281 unique names were suggested.
The bridge will allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross over the BNSF corridor between East Sprague and Spokane’s University District. Construction on the project began last year.
