Coroner’s Office declines formal inquest following toxicology reports

The Grant County Coroner’s Office says a former Coroner’s Inquest will not be necessary after receiving toxicology reports from the October 24th officer-involved shooting in Royal City.

Pedro Salgado Ceja, 45, was shot and killed by Ofc. R. Rodgriguez after resisting arrest. Ceja was chasing the officer with a shovel and did not comply to drop it.

The Coroner’s Office also determined the cause of death was gunshot wounds of torso by homicide.
