Cop saves dog from Lake Michigan

A dog involved in a car crash ran from the scene and fell into Lake Michigan in Chicago. He struggled to get out, but, luckily, an officer was nearby and fished the pup out of the water.

A news helicopter filming the car crash caught the pet rescue on video, WLS reported.

Police say the dog seems to have run out of one of the two vehicles involved in the crash.

When the dog approached the lake, it first lapped at the water, seemingly trying to grab a drink. The dog leaned so far, it fell into the lake and then struggled to get back up on land.

An officer grabbed the animal, and police managed to put a leash on it.

Police are looking for the dog’s owner.
