Convicted felon arrested on multiple gun, drug charges
SPOKANE, Wash. — What started as a fight call, ended with Spokane police arresting a man for multiple felonies and taking a gun and drugs off the streets.
Police were called around 12:30 a.m. Sunday to the 500 block of west Sinto. The caller said the two people that were fighting were in a dating relationship and one possibly had a knife or a gun.
When Ofc. Chris Johnson got there, the suspect, Eric E. Evenson, 48, immediately ran through the apartment complex to the third floor. Police say Evenson tried to force his way into an apartment before Ofc. Johnson was able to take him into custody.
Through their investigation, officers found probable cause to charge Evenson with City Assault-Domestic Violence. They say Evenson had a loaded handgun in his waistband and over $7,000 in cash on him. The bag he was carrying had a large amount of heroin, methamphetamine, morphine, and several other prescription drugs in it along with a scale typically used to weigh controlled substances, according to police.
Evenson has 14 previous felony convictions, including one for 1st Degree Burglary, which precludes him from possessing a firearm. Because of that previous conviction, Evenson was booked for 1st Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. He was also booked for Possession with Intent to Deliver-Heroin, Possession with Intent to Deliver-Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver-Morphine. Police say Evenson is facing additional misdemeanor charges and additional charges could be added later.
Evenson will be in court at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
