Collision near Oakesdale blocks road, turns fatal
WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. — UPDATE: The person in the crash, 57-year-old Dorothy L. Day, has died at Sacred Heart Hospital, WSP says.
The incident is under investigation, but WSP reports that Day’s car was northbound on Route 271, left the roadway, overcorrected, and crossed into the southbound shoulder where she was ejected from the car. She was not wearning a seatbelt.
The roadway is clear.
Washington State Patrol is reporting a collision on State Route 271 at mile post four, four miles north of Oakesdale, Wash.

WSP says the driver was ejected from his vehicle and is being transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
The southbound lane of Route 271 is fully blocked. The estimated reopening time for the road is unknown. Fire and first aid crews are on scene.
