Coeur d’Alene Police searching for suspicious man

Coeur d’Alene Police are searching for a suspicious man who attempted to lure an 11-year-old boy into his vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to Landings Park around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a suspicious call. Officers contacted the boy who told officers he was walking home after getting off the school bus when a green cargo van stopped near him.

A man got out from the front passenger seat and approached the boy, saying something to the effect of, “Come here. I have something for you.” The boy immediately turned around and ran away.

The man who approached the boy is described as white, between 30 and 40 years old. He is 5-foot-8 inches tall with a medium build and had mid-length brown hair, a brown mustache, and a strip of brown hair on his chin.

The vehicle he got out of was a light (possibly sage) green cargo van type with white scratches on both sides. The van had dark tinted windows on the front and passenger doors and two doors on the back of the van. There were no windows on the rear sides of the van. The van’s license plate appeared to be an Idaho Wildlife Bluebird plate.

Anyone with information about this van or its occupants is asked to call the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at (208) 769-2320.
