Coeur d’Alene kicks off the holidays
COUER D'ALENE, Idaho — People from across the nation and around the world joined thousands of Coeur d’Alene residents for their annual lighting ceremony and parade.
“I’ve never seen a Christmas celebration,” says Selva Kumar, who traveled from India with his friends to see the event.
“Hopefully it doesn’t get much colder than this. It’s really cold for us here,” he says.
Wind and rain battered those brave enough to see the show, which included marching bands, a large fireworks show and 1.5 million Christmas lights.
“Everybody told us it’s the most beautiful place on the earth. In some ways I feel that. It’s really beautiful,” says Kumar.
“It’s better than Switzerland. People want to go from here to Switzerland. This is more beautiful than Switzerland.”
