City flags to be lowered to honor the victims of Texas elementary school shooting
SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane mayor Nadine Woodward said all flags across the city facilities to be positioned at ½ staff to honor the victims of the Robb Elementary School shooting on Tuesday afternoon.
This comes from President Joe Biden’s directive that all state and U.S. flags across state agency facilities be lowered to honor the 19 children and two teachers killed in Tuesday’s shooting.
“Spokane sends its deepest sympathies and condolences to all those touched by the devastating and unacceptable tragedy in Texas,” Woodward said. “We join the country in mourning those who have lost their lives in this senseless act of violence. We owe it to our youth to do a better job protecting them, particularly in places of learning.”
Flags will be lowered until May 28.
