Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart announced Friday afternoon that he will be running for mayor in 2019.

Stuckart made the announcement at the old McKinley School building located on N. Napa.

During his announcement, Stuckart addressed several issues he’d tackle as mayor. Those issues include raising the median income, combating property crime, and hiring more police officers.

Stuckart also said he decided to announce his campaign early so he could meet and get feedback from people in the community and start implementing a plan.
