Circumstances move Riverfront Park ahead of schedule
SPOKANE, Wash. — Originally, the City of Spokane didn’t plan to take down Riverfront Park’s IMAX until March. However, due to heavy demolition equipment already on site, crews will begin taking down the building Monday.
The first phase of demolition will involve a high reach excavator and remove the top 25 to 30 feet – which is expected to take most of next week.
Demolition will also involve other structures not associated with the original Expo 74 Pavilion – including the Ice Palace Roof and Science Building.
Fencing around the area is expected to be up until summer.
