Celebration of life will honor Spokane alpinist
SPOKANE, Wash. — A celebration of life will be held Friday, May 17, at the Bing Crosby Theater in honor of Spokane alpinist Jess Roskelley.
The world-remowned climber was killed, along with Austrian climbers David Lama and Hanjörg Auer, when an avalanche swept through during their descent of Howse Peak, in the Canadian Rockies.
Jess Roskelley became the youngest American to climb Mt. Everest in 2003, when he was just 20-years-old.
The celbration of his life will begin at 3 p.m., followed by a reception at the Washington Cracker Building.
