CDA Resort gets ready for annual geranium planting
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — On Monday, The Coeur d’Alene Resort will begin it’s annual tradition of planting “Tango Red” geraniums across its grounds.
Over 22,000 flowers are planted at the resort and its properties every year in honor of Mr. Duane Hagadone’s mother.
“The planting of these vibrant flowers is a special occasion that our resort community looks forward
to every May,” said a press release from the resort. “Not only have these brilliant red flowers become an icon of The Coeur d’Alene Resort, but of our beautiful North Idaho region as a whole.”
Monday, May 20, is the official Resort Geranium Day of 2019. Dozens of Resort Team Members will kick off the planting on “Geranium Hill”, the large flower bed in front of The Coeur d’Alene Resort.
Once planting is done at the Resort, gardening will continue at the Hagadone Event Center, Boardwalk Bridge, Hagadone Corporation Office, Plaza Shops, Johnston Building, Coeur d’Alene Press, Hagadone Marine Complex and the Silver Beach Marina.
The first shipment of 12,500 geraniums will arrive on Monday morning around 7:00 am, which will all be used at the resort itself. Planting at the other location will take place over the next couple of days, ending on Wednesday.
According to the release from the resort, there are three steps to the geranium-planting process: drill, drop and toss. First, a hole is drilled in the dirt to fit the plant. Second, the geranium is dropped in position. Third, a detailer removes and tosses the plastic from the plant and then packs the dirt snugly around it to secure its position for the season.
Make sure you get out to see these amazing flowers this season. The spectacle never ceases to amaze.
