Snow spreads across Washington

Some parts of Western Washington are seeing their first snowflakes of the season. The National Weather Service says the light Tuesday morning accumulations will be short-lived but more showers are possible Wednesday with a chance of high winds in places.

Welding sparked Taylor Bridge wildfire

The Department of Natural Resources has concluded that an August wildfire that caused $11 million damage was caused by sparks from welding or cutting work on a bridge southeast of Cle Elum.

Light winds and overnight efforts by firefighters held a wildfire burning on the Colville Indian Reservation to about 5,000 acres, or nearly 8 square miles.
