Former CV star Wu-Yelland selected by the Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox today selected University of Hawaii and former Central Valley Bear left-handed pitcher Jeremy Wu-Yelland in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball Draft for First-Year Players.

WIAA releases plan to return to high school sports in the fall

At its June 7 meeting, the WIAA Executive Board was asked to set philosophical guidelines regarding the anticipated re-opening of schools and activities for the 2020-21 school year. This was done by answering four questions formulated by the National Federation of High Schools. The answers to these questions, which are listed below, will provide the framework for future planning of the Executive Board, WIAA Staff and member schools.

Chewelah's Jeanneret receives the Jace Malek Award For Toughness

Just over four years ago we lost our friend Jace Malek to cancer.  The Idaho Vandal and West Valley Eagle spent his final months inspiring others by showing incredible strength and toughness.  Before he passed, Jace gave us permission to honor him every year by giving out the Jace Malek Award for toughness to someone involved in high school sports who shows the same qualities Jace did.  We are honored to give the award for the 5th time tonight, to Jake Jeanneret of Chewelah.
