Cash reward being offered in vacant Coeur d’Alene motel fire investigation
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in the investigation into a vacant motel fire in downtown Coeur d’Alene.
The building which used to house the Garden Motel– at 1808 Northwest Blvd– caught fire early Sunday, July 14. The building had been vacant for many years and did not have power or gas.
By the time firefighters arrived, it was fully engulfed in flames. Crews took a defensive strategy to avoid sending crews into the burning building. It was later declared a total loss.
Investigators have determined the fire was human-caused. Fire crews on scene told 4 News Now they had heard of squatters inhabiting the building in the past but investigators have not found any suspects.
Now, an undisclosed cash reward is being offered for information that leads to the identification and arrest of whoever started the fire.
The public is urged to call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-222-TIPS, or going to www.p3tips.com. Tipsters do not have to give their name to collect the cash reward.
