Cancer claims beloved Red Kettle Santa
A sad update; the Salvation Army bell ringer in Coeur d’Alene, fondly known as Santa, passed away last week.
Bill Conner raised more than $50,000 in the 10 years he rang the bell for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Drive. He started ringing in Montana and in the recent years could be found at the Fred Meyer in Coeur d’Alene. Late last year he was diagnosed with cancer. The Korean War vet wanted one more shift of bell ringing before saying good bye. Almost one month later cancer claimed Bill’s life.
Bill passed away Saturday,January12th. The Kroc Center in CDA delivered a red bell to his family over the weekend.
