‘Came out of nowhere’: Hail storm leaves cars, homes damaged in Liberty Lake
SPOKANE, Wash. — It’s clean-up time in Liberty Lake after the huge hail storm hit Thursday. The hail damaged homes and dented cars. The storm is unlike anything people in the area have seen before.
“Just kind of came out of nowhere in a freak storm, and hit everything,” Jason Norman said.
Norman took pictures of each of his family’s cars which were dented in the storm to send to insurance.
“They got pretty beat up on the roof and on the hood and some on the sides. Luckily, we didn’t have any broken windows on any of our rigs, but yeah got all pretty big-sized holes in just about everywhere,” Norman said.
People reported seeing hail the size of golf balls, and some as solid as ice.
“The south sides of everyone’s homes got pretty beat up. If you have vinyl siding just about everyone has holes. Lot of broken windows our neighbors right over there has a broken window. My parents have quite a few windows in the back,” Norman said.
Debbie Stewart was in her during the hail storm. She says she thought the storm would just pass by, however it all changed when pouring rain and hail started to fall.
“I’m sad about my car but everybody’s cars got the same thing and I don’t know it’s something I’ve never seen before. I’ve lived here my entire life and I have never seen this before,” Stewart said.
Stewart also received some damage to her backyard and the side of her home.
“I’m not sure where you go from here. It’s not as bad as other places that gets stuff but it was devastating to us, and I see trees down and even like big branches down. It came from all directions,” Stewart said.
