Business helps to raise awareness of “pink tax”
SPOKANE, Wash. — Did you know that women pay more for products like shampoo, deodorant and other basics, than men?
The infamous “pink tax” is an added amount women are charged for beauty basics and services, like dry cleaning and haircuts.
Now, European Wax Center is leading a national effort to “ax the pink tax” with a new initiative, aimed at raising awareness for the unjust tax and inspiring women to take a stand.
That added tax amounts to an extra $1,351 a year.
So, the European Wax Center in Spokane Valley is giving a 13.1 percent discount for the month of April.
The company is offering the discount to men too.
They say this is in an effort to help level the playing field and raise awareness.
