Browne’s Addition Summer Concert Series Fundraiser
6 Foot Swing Headlines Fundraiser to Celebrate 15 Years of The Browne’s Addition Summer Concert SeriesThe Browne’s Addition Summer Concert Series is presenting a fundraising concert on Thursday, May 26th at 7:00 pm at nYne Bar and Bistro located at 232 West Sprague Avenue. Spokane’s favorite band, 6 Foot Swing, along with Kari Marguerite & the Seventy-Six are performing. Free swing dance lessons will round out the event. A $15.00 donation is requested with proceeds going to the 2011 concert series.”We’re celebrating our 15th year of showcasing local Spokane musicians and feel the concert series and the fundraiser are a great way of drawing attention to the diversity and culture in our local music scene.” says Browne’s Addition Summer Concert Committee Chair, Sarah Calvin. “The concert series has really grown in the past few years and we believe that growth is due to the richness of musical talent we’ve been able to offer. Each week is different. In the past we’ve had Latin Night with Los Vigiles, Klezmer band Chutzpah and nationally recognized bands such as Mon Cheri. Hopefully, this year’s fundraiser will allow us to increase our support for our musicians. We have a suggested $15.00 donation for the fundraiser and are also accepting Sponsorships.”Each Thursday in July and August families, friends and neighbors from the local Browne’s Addition neighborhood and the larger Spokane area gather at Coeur d’Alene Park to hear some of the area’s best musicians. The series began in 1996 with local bands playing for free and a few Browne’s Addition neighbors in attendance. With the addition of monetary support for the performers, the quality of bands increased as did the attendance. The gazebo – a remake of the historical original – makes a wonderful backdrop for the performers and provides a tangible sign of the revitalized neighborhood. The concerts are free to the public.Browne’s Additions Summer Concert Series is part of the Browne’s Addition Neighborhood Council.
