A woman’s body found inside car on fire near Thornton Murphy Park

SPOKANE, Wash. — Major crimes detectives are investigating a woman’s body found inside a burning car on Spokane’s South Hill Thursday night.

Spokane Police and Spokane Fire said they received a report of a car on fire at 27th and Fiske, right next to Thornton Murphy Park, at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

The fire department arrived on scene a short time later and put out the fire.  That’s when firefighters say they discovered a woman’s body inside.

Major crimes detectives and a medical examiner have since arrived on the scene.  Police closed a part of 27th Avenue for several hours during the investigation.
