Boat launch at Porcupine Bay might be open by Memorial Day weekend
FERRY COUNTY, Wash. — The National Park Service announced on Tuesday a tentative opening date for the Porcupine Bay campground and boat launch, an area that has been closed for the past two years.
The statement came after completion of a road that was previously knocked out in a landslide, blocking access to the park.
According to a statement released by NPS, the recreation area’s docks had also been ruined in the winter of 2017 when the Spokane River froze over. As of now, the boat launch is anticipated to be open by Memorial Day weekend.
Day-use of the campground, however, will remain closed until construction, such as hazard tree removal and water line replacement, is complete.
