1 body recovered, 3 missing as boat capsizes on Pend Oreille River

BONNER CO., Idaho — One body has been recovered and three others are missing after a boat capsized on the Pend Oreille River.

The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office says the boat flipped after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities believe only one boat is involved and that boat has been pulled from the water.

The front end has significant damage. Crews said only one engine was attached, but barely hanging on, when they located it.

Multiple agencies are helping with the search, including the Marine Division and Dive Team, Idaho Fish and Game, and the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Marine team. BSCO has also requested additional resources from the state to assist in the search.

The location of the crash is approximately 94 feet deep and emergency crews are using sonar devices to help with the search.

Authorities do not know what led the boat to crash.
