Bloomsday 2019: Women’s wheelchair champ sets new course record
SPOKANE, Wash. — Bloomsday 2019 begun with a record setting finish!
Susannah Scaroni conquered the Bloomsday course in 29 minutes and 54 seconds, becoming the first female wheelchair athlete to cross the finish line in less than a half hour and breaking the previous record by almost a minute.
According to the Bloomsday website, Scaroni lives in Urbana, Illinois but told KXLY4 she grew up in Tekoa, Washington.
Scaroni has now won Bloomsday five times. She also won the women’s wheelchair race in 2017, 2016, 2014, and 2013.
