Derek Deis anchors Good Morning Northwest with Robyn Nance and Mark Peterson Monday through Friday.

Previously Derek served as Sports Director, having joined the 4 News Now family in June of 2009 after nearly five years as a sports anchor/reporter for KHQ-TV.  He won an Emmy award for sports reporting in 2009.

A Moses Lake native and graduate of Washington State’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, Derek began his broadcasting career at KNDU-TV in the Tri-Cities in 1999. He also worked at KNDO-TV in Yakima for four years, before coming to the Lilac City.

Derek produces a weekly feature on 4 News Now called Made in the Northwest, which highlights local manufacturing companies in our area.  If your company manufactures a product locally and creates local jobs, Derek would love to hear from you.  You can also hear him regularly delivering news updates on KXLY Newsradio 920.

Derek and his wife, Melissa, who also works for 4 News Now, have two sons, Dylan and Danny. He is a Cougar football season ticket holder who loves watching live sporting events, playing basketball, golf and snowboarding.  Derek also dreams of one day becoming a competitive eater, especially after winning Ron’s Drive-In hamburger eating contest in July 2013.

You can contact Derek at derekd@kxly.com.
