Bigalow Gulp offers free coffee for firefighters
SPOKANE, Wash. — Coffee is on the house for firefighters this week at one local stand this week. Fire crews, many battling the Upriver Beacon Fire, can drink for free at Bigalow Gulp on East Francis today and tomorrow.
Manager Jessica Akins said she has an even deeper appreciation for firefighters now, after she was forced to evacuate her home during the Beacon Hill Fire two years ago.
“Two years ago, when we had our firefighters come up to our house and have us evacuate, they were really nice,” Akins said. “I’m just really appreciative of all that they do for us.”
She the community near Bigalow Gulp is a tight-knit one.
“We have a lot of friends in the community that support this coffee stand and there’s a lot of people that live over there on Upriver and I know how important it is to them and their houses,” Akins said. “They work so hard and they just sprung into action.”
Bigalow Gulp on East Francis will offer free coffee to firefighters until closing time at 7 p.m. Thursday.
