Barbara A. Finney
Barbara passed away peacefully at her home in Spokane on March 24, 2018. She was born in Toppenish, WA to William Austin Ries and Bonnie Lou Ries (Hood) on August 7, 1951.
Barbara attended school in Toppenish and later Spokane, graduating from Shadle High School in 1969. Following graduation, on December 4, 1970, she married Richard Finney, and to that union 2 children were born. In the early 1980’s she worked at the West Central Community Center. In the early 1990’s she started her career with Fairmount Memorial Association, where she retired in 2016 due to health issues.
She loved to sew and even made clothes for herself and others. Barbara also loved to write poems and spend time with her sister. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who she loved very much.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Donavan in 1994 and her brother-in-law Jim Parker in 2010. She is survived by her son Christopher Finney (Jamie) of ID, her daughter Jennifer Finney (Roger) of IA, 7 grandchildren: Terry Finney of SD, Brandon Finney of IA, Lexus Purcell, Blake Leth of IA, Brittney Leth of IA, Xander Finney of ID, and Brady Finney of ID, one step-grandchild, Colton, 3 great-grandchildren: Baylee, Terry Jr., Isabella and one great-grandchild that will be welcomed in to this world in August of this year. She also leaves behind 3 sisters: Louise of Spokane, Brenda (Rodger) Hanna of NE and Billie (Homer) Huston of CO, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Barbara will be held at Noon on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Heritage Funeral Home.
