Avista to change process of fixing downed power lines due to high wildfire danger
SPOKANE, Wash. — Due to high wildfire danger in the Washington and Idaho, Avista personnel will be making changes to the way they re-energize downed power lines.
In most cases, lines in rural or forested areas are re-energized automatically. Due to dry weather conditions, personnel will now physically patrol an outage area before the line is placed back into service.
The temporary changes could lead to longer outage times.
Avista will return to their normal practices as the weather permits.
