Authorities respond to fire near WSU Spokane, man arrested on unrelated charges
SPOKANE, Wash. — On Tuesday just after 3:10 PM, both the Spokane Fire Department and the Spokane Police Department responded to the report of a fire in the 600 block of N Riverpoint Blvd.
The fire was reported to be near a group of condominium residences in the area. There were several small burnt areas leading up to the larger fire. No structures were damaged.
The Spokane Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the flames which had spread through some bushes and into a yard.
Witnesses reported seeing a suspicious man leaving the area who was detained by the Spokane Police Officers who responded to the scene. The man was arrested on unrelated charges.
The Spokane Police Department is working with Spokane Fire Department Arson Investigators to determine the cause and nature of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
