Authorities arrest 18-year-old man on 11 counts of assault in N. Spokane
SPOKANE, Wash. — Authorities arrested an 18-year-old man on 11 counts of first degree assault in North Spokane on Thursday.
The Spokane Police Anti-Crime team, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Office, was searching for Modesto R. Briggs. They had reason to believe he was inside a house near E. Garland Ave and N. Nevada St.
The agencies, along with the SWAT team, surrounded the home and called multiple times for Briggs to come out.
Briggs ultimately surrendered without incident on the front porch.
The heavy law enforcement activity prompted a lockdown at nearby Longfellow Elementary. Brian Coddington with Spokane Public Schools confirmed the lockdown was lifted around 3 p.m.
