Auburn police searching for man hiding in rafters

AUBURN, Wash. — The Auburn Police Department is searching for a man who they believe is hiding in the rafters of a grocery store and sneaking out to steal food.

Police said they’ve been called to Haggen Lake Tapps five times since Christmas for reports of a man caught stealing items on surveillance.

The first time, police said the man stole thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes and liquor from the store.

Each time, employees told police they either saw the suspect or heard him in the rafters above the ceiling.

Police have searched the rafters multiple times but have yet to find him.

Anyone who has information is asked to call the Auburn Police tip line at 253-288-7403.
