Attic fire at apartment building on Maple St.
SPOKANE, Wash. — Heavy black smoke and fire coming from an apartment building led the Spokane Fire Department to the 700 block of S Maple Street.
A Washington State Patrol Trooper noticed the fire while driving by and was able to alert sleeping residents to help them safely evacuate.
When fire crews arrived, heavy smoke was seen coming from the roof, attic and the second floor. Firefighters were able to contain the fire in the attic and second floor.
The American Red Cross responded to assist several residents displaced as a result of the fire.
There were no reported injuries but the fire did cause significant damage throughout the apartment building.
