Arrest Warrant Issued For Sex Offender

Detectives are searching for a Level 1 sex offender who they believe has been sexually abusing and photographing a four-year-old girl.

Glenn Sapp, 51, is being sought for charges of child molestation, child rape, sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography.

On February 9 a man called Child Protective Services after he purchased a computer from Sapp. Once the man was able to boot the computer?s operating system he found images and video files allegedly showing Sapp abusing a young female. The individual saved the video and image files to an external hard drive and returned the computer to Sapp, saying he no longer wanted to purchase the computer.

The individual then turned the external hard drive over to a Spokane Valley Police Officer and an investigation began into the matter.

On February 16 Sapp?s three children ? a 7-year-old boy, 3-year-old girl and 16-month-old boy ? were taken from the home. Four days later an officer was contacted by a woman who was given a digital camera memory stick that contained images and video files similar to those found on the computer. The woman viewed the images on the memory stick and recognized the four-year-old victim and said there appeared to be as many as three other victims.

Detectives obtained the digital camera on the 22nd, got a search warrant for the camera and memory stick and viewed 223 still images and found 49 video clips. On Thursday family members of the four-year-old victim, including the girl?s mother, positively identified her face from the videos; they also identified Sapp and his girlfriend in the videos as well.

The victim?s mother said that between November and February she had been leaving her daughter at Sapp?s apartment to play with his four-year-old daughter. The girl also spent the night at the home on at least four occasions.

The arrest warrants were filed Thursday against Sapp for the sexual assault involving the one victim that has been identified; detectives say that the other victims may still be identified.

Sapp was previously convicted in 1999 in Chelan County for two counts of possession of child pornography. The victims in that case were two minor neighbors Sapp took pictures of with a Polaroid camera.

So far Sapp has not been located. If anyone knows of his whereabouts you are asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
